Podcast : A hidden world yet to be discovered in India

One of the best discoveries I made for myself last year, is the world of podcast. This hidden treasure of entertainment is very unpopular among the Indian mass and I still trying to figure out why.

I think anyone who loves to listen to radio talk-shows, can switch to podcast. I find them the best travel companion and an excellent source of world info and entertainment.

So here I am sharing my top 5 favorite podcast channels for you.

Hope you give it a try.

The seen and the Unseen

By Amit Varma, the blogger who was listed in 2009 Business Week’s India’s 50 Most Powerful needs no introduction. In this podcast, he investigates the unseen part of the most seen events and news. He is also the author of India Uncut.

Paisa Vaisa

Another show from the IVM Team. This podcast, hosted by Anupam Gupta, is a great resource for all question related to personal finance. The structure and content of the show is intended for the Indian mass and enables them to take control of their own finance.

HBR Ideacast

HBR – Harvard Business Review. I think that should be enough to place this on your podcast playlist. Be-aware the content is aligned to business, leadership & management. But I would suggest this as a “must-listen” to anyone who is a employee or an employer.

The Economist Radio (All audio)

A very good podcast to keep track of the world. The Economist has lot of different podcast channels, but this is the collection of all. I don’t have personal favorite Economist channel, so this works. I do listen to “The Week Ahead” as it keeps me updated on the world affairs.

Freakonomics Radio

A great radio show from the authors of the best seller.  They have surprising take on daily topics, giving you answers and new angles to life. The show is produced in America, so being in India you may not relate to all the topic, but overall the topics talked about are generic to the world.

Do give them a try and let me know what you think about podcasts in the comment section below.

  • Oh yeah podcasts are really great. I find them as amazing accompaniments for my morning runs. I usually listen to ‘Entrepreneur on fire’ everyday. But haven’t tried any of the ones you have mentioned here. Will try them for sure.

There are a whole lot of audiobooks also available, either as podcasts or on youtube for those who are not big in reading.

    Loved reading your posts.

  • I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays..
