Restaurants : My favourite in Bangalore – Part 1

Restaurants : My favourite in Bangalore – Part 1

The anytime anyday goto restaurants

In this young and vibrant city of Bangalore, eating out is now more of a convenience than an occasion & celebration. Thanks to the huge number restaurants popping up everyday around Bangalore, you are always spoiled for choices. But sometime scanning all the restaurants trying to find the perfect once can be frustrating.

Having gone through the same pain, I have listed my go-to restaurants. All these restaurants server great food, cost under 1500 for 2 and score fairly on the overall experience.

This is part 1 of the list. There are so many restaurants in my list that 1 post would not be enough. So I have divided it into parts with each part have – 10 restaurants.

Hope you enjoy both my writing and these great restaurants.

Hope this list make life a little easier for you. Also, don’t forget to comment and share your restaurant experience

  1. Here & Now

Located opposite BDA Complex, HSR. This cafe is perfect for american breakfasts & lunch. They close by 8 PM, so this would not be an ideal dinner location. It’s a small place so expect a waiting time during weekends and rush hours.
I have been there a couple of times. A meal for 2 costs around Rs 900. The all-day breakfast menu and the burger menu are my most favourites. They also have some great pasta. From the drink section, my favourites are cold coffee & Oreo shake.
My regular order: Nice to meet you, Spoiled brat, Frittata, Open relationship burger, Chessy affair burger, Pancakes, Cold Coffee, Oreo shake

  2. Truffles

Located at multiple locations around the city. They are very famous and popular. They open late and stay open till 10:30 PM. An ideal location for lunch and dinner. I am a regular to the Koramangla outlet. They have a big space so wait time is less even during weekend & rush hour. My bills are always around Rs 800 for 2.
My regular order: Spaghetti Bolognaise,  California Chicken Steak, Grilled Fish in lemon butter sauce, Thai Green Curry, Hazelnut Coffee, Oreo Shake

  3. Leon Grill & Waffle Hut

Located at multiple locations. This is a Turkish & Arabian grilled food quick service restaurant chain. I am a regular at the HSR layout branch which has the Waffle Hut within the same space. They operate like a food court with 2 counters.
My regular order from Leon Grill: Chicken doner salad, Peri-peri quarter, Louisiana burger
My regular order from The Waffle Hut: Oreo shake, Apple cinnamon waffle

  4. Grapevine

Located in HSR. This small place specializes in Italian cuisine. Although they have Indianised the dishes they serve good food. They have a wine to complete the Italian food experience. Eating here would cost you around Rs 900 for 2. Generally, there is no wait time. But on special days there can be 10-15 minutes of waiting as the place is small.
My regular order: Pesto pasta, Bruschetta, Grilled Fish, Coffee, Wine

  5. A Hole Lotta Love

A very famous and highly rated cafe near Forum Mall, Koramangla. This house turned into cafe has a very different feel to it. The rustic interior and simple ambience will make you feel at home. They open at 10 AM and are perfect for breakfast. Be aware this place get really crowded any day. Food is great but very light on the pocket. I paid a bill of around 600 Rs for 2.
My regular order: All English breakfast, Farmer’s breakfast, Pancake, Coffee

  6. Chianti

Another great Italian restaurant which is now expanding to multiple branches in the city. This is the closest to authentic Italian food that I have tasted in the city. The range of wine and the pairing suggestion here are great. We have visited their Indranagar branch a couple of times.
My regular order: Bruschetta, Fettucine Alla Bolognese, Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni, Wine.

  7. Ciclo Cafe

Close to Chianti, Indranagar. We actually ended up here because we did not get a place at the Chianti. But it was a discovery worth writing. They are actually a bicycle-shop-cum-cafe. A fairly new place with a great ambience. Their menu needs a little help as the dishes don’t have enough description. This place is a bit pricey the bill would touch close to 1500 Rs for 2
My order: Burger, Bruschetta, Bao, Tiramisu, Coolers.

  8. The hole in the wall cafe

Another homely cafe near Sony Singal, Koramangala. A great place for breakfast. They open early at 8:30 AM and shut shop at 8:30 PM. They also stop service between 3 PM to 5:30 PM. This is a very popular place for waiting time is common. They serve simple cafe style food.
My order: Chicken whole 9-yard hash, Full monty American breakfast, Cold coffee, Ginger lime juice.

  9. Onesta

Now open at multiple places across town. I don’t think I can suggest anything other than pizza here because they are best at it. Their pizzas are best – Sun-dried tomato Margherita, Four cheese Margherita, Mexican veg delight, chicken alfredo, BBQ chicken and the list goes on. I don’t think I would ever order anything else here.

  10. Cafe At The Atelier

A long drive to this beautiful school would land you in the beautiful cafe that they manage after school hours. This place is inside a warehouse area. They are the next gen playschools. A must do is to visit their washroom – don’t miss it.
Be aware that the cafe is their side business, so they are not open all days and not even all through the day. So do check-out their operating time and plan accordingly.
But don’t let this make you think that they are not serious about food. The menu they serve is fabulous. The staff is cordial and polite. So this is one place you should definitely try out some day.
My order: Stuffed chicken breast, Lemon & garlic fish, Coffee.

Nothing as per your style and taste. Continue to “Part 2” and you will surely be served.

PS: These are my favorites. There are many many more restaurants in the city which I have not been too.
